Loose wiring connections2. Construction debris clogging the pilot and/or gas control valvefilterOBSERVED PROBLEMPilot will not lightPilot will not stay litNo gas to burner, although wall switch andvalve are set to the ON positionFrequent pilot outagePOSSIBLE CAUSE1. No gas supply, or shutoff valve is OFF2. Air in gas line3. Construction debris clogging pilot orifice4. Low gas pressure5. Control valve knob is not on the PILOTposition6. Kinked pilot line7. Bad valve8. Vent damper not fully open1. Loose wiring on thermopile to regula-tor valve. No millivolt current is beingsent back to regulator2. If valve knob and wall switch are in theON position, probable defective regula-tor valve3. Vent damper not fully open1. Wall switch wires defective or too long2. Thermopile not generating sufficientvoltage1. Pilot flame may be too low, causingsafety pilot to “drop out”2. Improper venting or excessive blockageREMEDY1. Check to see if you have gas supply2. Hold regulator control valve in the PILOTposition for 2 to 3 minutes to purge air. Ifyou smell gas stop and wait for a few min-utes before trying to light the fireplace3. Remove debris and dirt, inspect andclean any other possible obstructions4. Contact your gas supplier5. Refer to section on pilot lighting6. Have a qualified technician replace pi-lot line7. Replace regulator valve (see Accesso-ries, page 27)8. Open vent damper until fully locked inOPEN position1. Check wiring connections. Refer to wir-ing diagram shown in Wall Switch In-stallation, page 112. Have a qualified technician replace valve3. Open vent damper until fully locked inOPEN position1. Check electrical connections2. See Pilot will not stay lit, above1. Clean and adjust pilot flame for maximumflame impingement on thermopile2. Have the vent system inspected, includ-ing the termination cap. Remove anyrestriction or obstructionNote: For additional help, visit DESA International’s Techni-cal Service web site at www.desatech.com.Note: Before troubleshooting the system, make sure the gas shutoffvalve is ON.TROUBLESHOOTING
