If you havethese signs, the heater may not be workingproperly. Get fresh air at once! Have heaterserviced. Some people are more affected bycarbon monoxide than others. These includepregnant women, people with heart or lungdisease or anemia, those under the influenceof alcohol and those at high altitudes.Natural and Propane/LP Gas: Natural and pro-pane/LP gases are fuel gases. Fuel gases areodorless. An odor-making agent is added tofuel gases. The odor helps you detect a fuelgas leak. However, the odor added to fuelgas can fade. Fuel gas may be present eventhough no odor exists.Make certain you read and understand allwarnings. Keep this manual for reference. Itis your guide to safe and proper operation ofthis heater.WARNING: Any change tothis heater or its controls canbe dangerous.WARNING: Do not use ablower insert, heat exchangerinsert or other accessory not ap-proved for use with this heater.Due to high temperatures, theappliance should be located outof traffic and away from furnitureand draperies.Do not place clothing or otherflammable material on or nearthe appliance. Never place anyobjects on the heater.Surface of heater becomes veryhot when running heater. Keepchildren and adults away fromhot surface to avoid burns orclothing ignition. Heater willremain hot for a time after shut-down. Allow surface to coolbefore touching.Carefully supervise young chil-dren when they are in the sameroom with heater.Make sure grill guard is in placebefore running heater.Keep the appliance area clearand free from combustible ma-terials, gasoline and other flam-mable vapors and liquids.1. This appliance is only for use with the typeof gas indicated on the rating plate. Thisappliance is not convertible for use withother gases.2. Do not place propane/LP supply tank(s)inside any structure. Locate propane/LPsupply tank(s) outdoors.3. This heater shall not be installed in abedroom or bathroom.4. If you smell gas• shut off gas supply• do not try to light any appliance• do not touch any electrical switch; do notuse any phone in your building• immediately call your gas supplier froma neighbor’s phone. Follow the gassupplier’s instructions• if you cannot reach your gas supplier,call the fire department5. This heater needs fresh, outside air ventila-tion to run properly. This heater has an Oxy-gen Depletion Sensing (ODS) safety shutoffsystem. The ODS shuts down the heater ifnot enough fresh air is available. See Air forCombustion and Ventilation, page 5.6. Keep all air openings in front and bottomof heater clear and free of debris. This willinsure enough air for proper combustion.7.
