6103856PROPANE CONSTRUCTION HEATERREMEDY1. Check voltage to electrical outlet. If volt-age is good, check heater power cord forbreaks.2. Adjust motor/fan guard to keep fan fromhitting inside of heater shell. Bend fanguard if necessary.3. Replace fan. See Fan, page 8.4. Replace motor. See Motor, page 7.1. Repeat installation and operation in-structions. See Installation, page 4 andOperation, page 5.2. A) Check ignitor wire. Tighten or reat-tach loose ignitor wire. See Figure 14,page 8 for ignitor wire location.B) Set gap between ignitor electrode andtarget plate to 4.3 mm (.17 in).C) Tighten nut holding piezo ignitor tobase of heater.D) Replace ignitor electrode. See Igni-tor, page 8.1. This can happen when running heater intemperatures above 29° C (85° F). Runheater in cooler temperatures.2. Check heater inlet and outlet. Removeany obstructions.3. Replace fan. See Fan, page 8.4. Clean heater. See Maintenance, above.POSSIBLE CAUSE1. No electrical power to heater2. Fan hitting inside of heater shell3. Fan blades bent4. Defective motor1. User did not follow installation or op-eration instructions properly2. No spark at ignitor. To test for spark, fol-low step 9 under Ignitor, page 8. If yousee spark at ignitor, have heater servicedby qualified service person. If no sparkseen:A) Loose or disconnected ignitor wireB) Wrong spark gapC) Piezo ignitor looseD) Bad ignitor electrode1. High surrounding air temperature caus-ing thermal limit device to shut downheater.2. Restricted air flow3. Damaged fan4. Excessive dust or debris in surroundingareaOBSERVED FAULTFan does not turn when heater is plugged in.Heater will not ignite.Heater shuts down while running.WARNING: Never service heater while it is plugged in, connected topropane supply, operating, or hot. Severe burns and electrical shock canoccur.TROUBLESHOOTINGMAINTENANCEWARNINGS• Never service heater while it isplugged in, connected to pro-pane supply, operating, or hot.Severe burns and electricalshock can occur.• Keep heater clear and free fromcombustible materials, gaso-line, and other flammable va-pors and liquids.• Do not block the flow of com-bustion or ventilation air.1. Keep heater clean. Clean heater annu-ally or as needed to remove dust anddebris. If heater is dirty or dusty, cleanheater with a damp cloth. Use house-hold cleaners on difficult spots.2. Inspect heater before each use. Checkconnections for leaks. Apply mixtureof liquid soap and water to connections.Bubbles forming show a leak. Correctall leaks at once.3. Inspect hose/regulator assembly beforeeach use. If hose is highly worn or cut,replace.4. Have heater inspected yearly by a quali-fied service agency.5. Keep inside of heater free from com-bustible and foreign objects. Removemotor and other internal parts if neededto clean inside of heater (see ServiceProcedures, page 7).6. Clean fan blades each season or asneeded (see Fan, page 8).WARNING: Use only in areas free of high dust content.
