4104975PORTABLE FORCED AIR HEATERR 15 E UK®THEORY OFOPERATIONThe Fuel System: The air pump forcesair through the air line. The air is thenpushed through the burner head nozzle. Thisair causes fuel to lift from the tank. A finemist of fuel is sprayed into the combustionchamber. The Air System: The motor turns the fan.The fan pushes air into and around thecombustion chamber. This air is heated andprovides a stream of clean, hot air.FanFuelFilterAir For FuelSystemAir ForCombustionAnd HeatingFuelSparkPlugCombustionChamber IntakeAir FilterMotor Air PumpAir lineTo BurnerElectronicIgnitorBurnerHeadCleanHeatedAir OutCoolAirInOutputAirFilterNozzleFuelTankFigure 2 - Cross Section Operational ViewVENTILATIONProvide a fresh air opening of at least 2800square cm (three square feet) for each100,000 Btu/Hr rating. Provide extra freshair if more heaters are being used. This 50,000 Btu/Hr heater requires one ofthe following:• a two-car garage door (16 feet wide open-ing) raised 3.2 cm (1 1/4 inches)• a single-car garage door (9 feet wideopening) raised 5.1 cm (2 inches)• two, 76 cm (thirty-inch) windows raised9.6 cm (3 3/4 inches)WARNING: Follow the mini-mum fresh, outside air ventila-tion requirements. If proper fresh, outside air ventilation is not pro-vided, carbon monoxide poison-ing can occur. Provide properfresh, outside air ventilation be-fore running heater.Do not use heavy fuels such as No. 2 fuel oilor No. 2 Diesel. Using heavy fuels willresult in:• clogged fuel filter and nozzle• carbon build up on spark plug• use of non-toxic anti-icer in fuel duringvery cold weatherIMPORTANT: Use a KEROSENE ONLYcontainer. Be sure storage container is clean.Foreign matter such as rust, dirt, or waterwill cause the flame-out control to shutdown heater. Foreign matter may also re-quire you to clean fuel system often.WARNING: Use only keroseneor No. 1 fuel oil to avoid risk of fireor explosion. Never use gaso-line, naphtha, paint thinners, al-cohol or other highly flammablefuels.FUELS The Ignition System: The electronicignitor sends voltage to the spark plug. Thespark plug ignites the fuel and air mixture. The Flame-Out Control System: Thissystem causes the heater to shut down if theflame goes out.
