See Remov-ing/Replacing Glass Door, page 25 for instruc-tions for replacing glass door.WARNING: Do not operatefireplace with the glass doorunlatched, removed, crackedor broken.PILOT AND BURNERS• Remove ember material before cleaningburners and replace when cleaning iscomplete.• Burner and controls should be cleanedwith compressed air to remove dust, dirtor lint.• Use a vacuum cleaner or small, soft bristledbrush to remove excess dust, dirt or lint.LOGS• If you remove logs for cleaning, refer toInstalling Lava Rock and Glowing Embers,page 26, to properly replace logs.• Use a vacuum cleaner to remove anycarbon buildup on logs.• Replace log(s) if broken. See ReplacementParts on page 37.• Replace ember material periodicallyas needed. See Replacement Parts onpage 37.VENTING SYSTEMConduct annual inspection of the ventingsystem following these guidelines:1. Check areas of venting system that areexposed to the weather for corrosion (rustspots or streaks and, in extreme cases,holes). Have these items replaced im-mediately by a qualified service person.2. Remove vent cap and shine a flashlightinto vent. Remove any foreign material.3. Check for evidence of excessive con-densation. Continuous condensation cancause corrosion of caps, pipes and fittingsand can be caused by having excessivelateral runs, too many elbows or exteriorportions of the system being exposed tocold weather.4. Inspect joints to verify that no pipe sectionor fitting has been disturbed and loos-ened. Check mechanical supports suchas wall straps for rigidity.CLEANING AND MAINTENANCEContinued
