These are the minimum allowable mantelclearances for a safe installation. Use largerclearances wherever possible to minimizethe heating of objects and materials placedon the mantel.NOTICE: Surface temperaturesof adjacent walls and mantels be-come hot during operation. This com-bustible material must be 4" from the sideof the fireplace cabinet (see Figure 2).B. Clearances from the top of the fireplaceopening to the ceiling should not be lessthan 42".
