Owner’s Manual – Proflo Electric Storage Water Heaters10H04210421Rev.NIt is recommended that the followingpoints be reviewed before making aservice call:No Hot Water:Ensure the power supply circuit breakerhas not “tripped”. If the water heateris on a timed tariff such as off-peak,ensure this is operating correctly.High Energy Bills or Insufficient HotWater:• Often the hot water usage ofshowers, washing machinesand dishwashers can be underestimated. Review these appliancesto determine if the daily usage isgreater than the capability of thewater heater.• If necessary check the shower flowrates with a bucket, measuringthe amount of water used over aperiod of time. If it is not possibleto adjust water usage patterns, aninexpensive flow control valve caneasily be fitted to the shower outlet.• Is the water heater the correct sizefor the requirements? Sizing detailsare available from your Dux supplier.• Is there a leaking hot water pipe ordripping hot water tap? A small leakcan waste a large quantity of hotwater. Replace faulty tap washersand arrange for your plumber torectify any leaking pipe work.• Is the Pressure & Temperature ReliefValve discharging too much water?See below.Continuous Trickle of Water fromPressure & Temperature Relief (PTR)Valve:This is most likely due to a build up offoreign matter. In this case, try gentlyraising the easing lever on the PTR Valvefor a few seconds, then release gently.This may dislodge a small particle offoreign matter and rectify the fault.Water Discharge from PTR Valve:It is not unusual for a small quantity ofwater to discharge during the heating ofwater in the storage tank. The amountof discharge will depend on hot waterusage and the size of the storage tank.As a guide, it will discharge about 2% ofthe volume of the water heated.Continuous leakage of water from thePTR Valve may indicate a problem withthe water heater.
