600 A 15/25 kV Class T-OP II connector assembly installation instructions1 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS MN650048EN May 2017DANGERAll associated apparatus must be de-energized duringany hands-on installation or maintenanceWARNINGThe 600 A T-OP II Connector System is designed to beoperated in accordance with normal safe operatingprocedures These instructions are not intended tosupersede or replace existing safety and operatingprocedures The elbow connector should be installedand serviced only by personnel familiar with goodsafety practices and the handling of high-voltageelectrical equipmentWARNINGOptional Capacitive Test Point Operating Instructions:Use only voltage indicating instruments specificallydesigned for test points Use of conventional voltagesensing devices may provide false “No Voltage”indicationsThe test point must be dry and free of contaminant’swhen checking for voltage After indication is taken:clean, dry, and lubricate the test point cap with siliconegrease and assemble to the test pointThe capacitive test point is not sufficiently accurate, nor is it intended for, actual voltage measurements orphasing operationsA reading of no voltage from the test point should notbe the only indication of a de-energized circuit obtainedbefore touching the connector Other procedures caninclude direct conductor voltage testing or groundingusing a live-line toolProduct informationIntroductionEaton’s Cooper Power series 600 A 15/25 kV Class T-OPII Deadbreak Connectors are used to terminate high-voltage underground cable on deadfront apparatus suchas transformers, switches, and switchgear. They are fullyshielded, submersible, and meet the requirements of IEEEStd 386™ standard – “Separable Insulated ConnectorSystems”. Eaton’s Cooper Power series 600 A DeadbreakConnectors are fully interchangeable with all othermanufacturers that also certify compliance with IEEE Std386™ standard. The T-OP II is rated for 900 A when usedwith all copper current carrying components.Figure 1 Line illustration of typical 15 kV T-OP IIconnector assemblyRead this manual firstRead and understand the contents of this manual and followall locally approved procedures and safety practices beforeinstalling or operating this equipment.Additional informationThese instructions cannot cover all details or variationsin the equipment, procedures, or process described norprovide directions for meeting every possible contingencyduring installation, operation, or maintenance.
