Eaton 93PM Emergency Lighting UPS (20–40 kW, 480V Four Wire – UL 924) Installation and Operation Manual P-164000569—Rev 2 www.eaton.com/powerquality 1-1Chapter 1 IntroductionThe Eaton ® 93PM 20–40 kW, Four Wire UL 924 Emergency Lighting Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is atrue online, continuous-duty, transformerless, double-conversion, solid-state, three-phase system, providingconditioned and uninterruptible AC power for emergency lighting during power failures or other emergencysituations.The Eaton 93PM 20–40 kW, Four Wire UL 924 UPS models are certified for UL Standards for Safety forEmergency Lighting and Power Equipment, UL 924. UL 924 models can provide greater than 90 minutes ofbattery runtime at the rated load.The Eaton 93PM 20–40 kW, Four Wire UL 924 UPS online power protection system is used to power thecustomer’s emergency lighting system and is configured with external line and match or standalone batterycabinets.The Eaton 93PM 20–40 kW, Four Wire UL 924 UPS is available with one Uninterruptible Power Module (UPMs)integrated in one cabinet. The UPM is rated for a maximum of 40 kW. The system maximum rating is 40 kW.The UPS is housed in a single free-standing cabinet, with safety shields behind the door for hazardous voltageprotection. Power wiring is installed through the bottom of the cabinet with an optional sidecar available for topentry wiring. Figure 1-1 shows the Eaton 93PM 20–40 kW, Four Wire UL 924 UPS and Figure 1-2 shows theEaton 93PM 20–40 kW, Four Wire UL 924 UPS with a left or right mounted sidecar.1.1 UPS Standard FeaturesThe UPS has many standard features that provide cost-effective and consistently reliable power protection. Thedescriptions in this section provide a brief overview of the UPS standard features.1.1.1 Installation Featuresl Line-up-and-match or standalone configurationsl Power wiring can be routed through the bottom of the cabinetl Battery wiring can be run internally through the left or right sides of the UPS cabinet in line-up-and-matchconfigurationsl Easily accessible mechanical terminals located at the bottom front of the cabinet reduce installation timel Control wiring can be routed through the top or bottom of the UPS cabinet, or through the left or right sidesof the UPS cabinet in line-up-and-match configurationsl Built-in casters for easy cabinet placementl Cabinet bolt holes are provided for permanently mounting the UPS using optional front and back or left andright side floor mounting bracket kitsNOTE Startup and operational checks must be performed by an authorized EatonCustomer Service Engineer, or the warranty terms specified on page W-1 becomevoid.
