10EATON’s Crouse-Hinds BusinessGBExplosion-protected plugs and sockets63A, GHG 514In order to ensure the required minimumprotection category, the cable glands are to betightened down.Overtightening might impair the protectioncategory.All vacant metric Eaton’s Crouse-HindsBusiness / CEAG cable entries shall be closedwith the certified blanking plug for metric cableentries.Attention: Metal flanges, metal plates andmetal cable glands shall be included in theequipotential earth connection.6.3.2 PlugIn general, only the sealing inserts, fig. 6, item12, fitted in the plug may be used.When mounting the cable, attention has to bepaid that sealing inserts matching the cablediameter be used.After having mounted the cable, the couplingring, fig. 6, item 4, is to be screwed fingertightuntil the sealing effect is obtained. Then thescrews, fig. 6, item 5, of the pull-relief, fig. 6,item 6, are to be tightened down.Mind! Overtightening might impair thepull-relief effect!6.4 Closing the deviceIn order to ensure the required minimumprotection category, the cover screws, thescrews of the plug shall be tightened down.Overtightening might impair the protectioncategory. Any foreign matter shall be removedfrom the device.6.5 Taking into operationPrior to taking the apparatus into operation, thetests specified in the relevant nationalregulations shall be carried out. Apart from that,the correct functioning and installation of theapparatus in accordance with these operatinginstructions and other applicable regulations willhave to be checked.Check the plug for any damages before puttingit in the socket.The user must ensure that a uniform equipoten-tial earth applies throughout when the plug andsocket system is operated.The inappropriate installation and operation ofthe plugs and sockets can entail the loss of war-ranty.7 Maintenance / ServicingThe relevant national regulations which apply tothe maintenance/servicing of electricalapparatus in explosive atmospheres, shall beobserved (IEC/EN 60079-17).Before opening the enclosure, make sure thatthe device is disconnected from the voltage, ortake appropriate protective measures.The required maintenance intervals depend onthe specific application and will therefore haveto be determined by the user dependent on theconditions of use.When servicing the plugs and sockets,particularly those parts that are decisive fortheir type of protection against explosion willhave to be checked (e. g. intactness offlameproof enclosed components, of thehousing, firm fit of the cable entries andefficacy of gaskets).If during servicing, repairs prove to benecessary, section 8 of these operatinginstructions will have to be observed..8 Repair/Overhaul / Modifica-tionsRepairs and overhaul may only be carried outwith genuine Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds Business /CEAG spare parts.Should the flameproof enclosure be damaged,only a replacement will be permitted. In case ofdoubt, the respective apparatus will have to bereturned to Eaton / CEAG for repair.Repairs that affect the explosion protection,may only be carried out by Eaton / CEAG or aqualified electrician in compliance with theapplicable national rules (IEC/EN 60079-19).Modifications to the device or changes of itsdesign are not permitted.9 Disposal / RecyclingWhen the apparatus is disposed of, therespective national regulations on wastedisposal will have to be observed.
