The pot is shipped factory set to the lowestsetpoint, fully clockwise. Turning the pot counter-clockwise will increasethe setpoint. The pot has a slip-clutch to prevent damage at either endof its rotation. To determine where the adjustment is, turn the pot all theway clockwise. This will return it to the minimum setpoint.Important Setpoint Adjustment Notes• Output contacts are solid-state. Check output status by applyingvoltage to the contacts and reading the voltage drop across thecontacts. An Ohmmeter set on “continuity” will give misleadingresults.• It is recommended the setpoint be adjusted to allow for voltagevariations of 10 to 15 percent.• Mounting can be done in any position or hung directly on wireswith a wire tieTypical Adjustment Steps1. Turn the pot to the minimum setpoint (four or fifteen turnsclockwise).2. Have normal operating current running through the switch. Theoutput should be tripped since the pot is at its minimum setpoint. For units with an LED, it should be flashing fast (two to three timesper second).3. Turn the pot counter-clockwise until the unit un-trips. This isindicated by the slow flashing of the LED (once every two to threeseconds), or by changing of the output switch status.4. Now turn the pot clockwise slowly until the unit trips again. It isnow set at the current level being monitored.a. To set underload, turn the pot about 1/8 turn further clockwiseb. To set overload, turn the pot about 1/8 turn further counter-clockwiseWIRING DIAGRAMConnect control or monitoring wires to the sensor. Use up to14 AWG copper wire and tighten terminals to 5 inch-pounds torque. Besure the output load does not exceed the switch rating.CAUTION! Incandescentlamps can have “coldfilament inrush” currentof up to ten times theirrated amperage. Usecaution when switchinglamps.TROUBLESHOOTINGProblem SolutionSwitch isalways trippedThe setpoint may be too low. Turn the pot counter-clockwise toincrease the setpoint. The switch may have been overloaded and the contacts areburned out. Check the output load, remembering to include inrushon inductive loads (coils, motors, ballasts).Switch willnot tripThe setpoint may be too high. Turn the pot clockwise to decreasethe setpoint. On split core models, the core contact area may be dirty. Open theswitch and clean the contact area. The monitored current may be below the minimum required. Loopthe monitored wire several times through the aperture until the“sensed” current rises above the minimum. The sensed ampsequals “actual amps” multiplied by the “number of loops.” Countloops on the inside of the aperture. The switch may have been overloaded and the contacts areburned out. Check the output load, remembering to include inrushon inductive loads (coils, motors, ballasts).SPECIFICATIONSSolid Core Split CorePower Supply Self Powered–No Power Supply NeededOutput Magnetically Isolated Solid-State SwitchOutput Rating Normally Open Models: 0.15A, 240V AC/DCNormally Closed Models: 0.20A, 135V AC/DCOff-State Leakage < 10 μAResponse Time 120 msAdjustable Setpoint Range 1-150A 1.75-150ASetpoint Adjustment 15-Turn Potentiometer 4-Turn PotentiometerFixed Setpoints 1.0A 1.5AHysteresis Approximately 5% of SetpointOverload Fixed Setpoint, N.O.
