Since the current carrying parts are notreadily accessible, the Type VCP-W Simple ManualGround and Test Device is designed for insertion intothe breaker compartment to gain access to theprimary stationary contacts. It provides a convenientmeans to:1. Ground a circuit for maintenance work;2. Apply potential for cable testing; and,3. Access both bus and line circuits for “phasingout” tests.1-2 DESCRIPTIONThe device consists of a drawout element that can beinserted into a circuit breaker compartment in thesame manner as a Type VCP-W Circuit Breaker. Itincludes six terminals and ground bus connections. Each terminal is isolated from each other and the busconnection by insulating barriers. The upper and lowerterminals are accessible by removing the respectivefront panel. The ground connection is located in thelower front section of the device.VacClad-W switchgear is a two-high arrangement. Inthe lower compartment the top terminals normallyconnect to the main bus and the bottom terminalsnormally connect to the incoming line or feeders. Inan upper
