At each inspection:Check the control unit for obvious signs ofdamage to the case or its lid.Check the condition of the control unitstandby battery.Check the cabling to the keypad(s) andexpander(s) for signs of damage or wear.Check the keypads for obvious signs ofdamage.Test the action of all buttons on all keypads.Clean the keypad surface and display. Toclean the keypad wipe the surface with aclean soft dry cloth. Do not use water,solvents or any proprietary cleaning materials.Monitor the signal strength and batterycondition of all detectors, radio keypads,remote controls, HUAs and radio sounders.Test each device. Replace batteries asrecommended by the manufacturer’sinstructions.Gently clean the lenses of any PIRs with aclean, soft dry cloth. Do not use water,solvents or any proprietary cleaning materials.Walk test all detectors.Test any external sounders and strobes.Note that if you wish to find the location of anykeypad or expander you can employ the Test –Locate Bus Device option in the Installer Menu. Usethis option to make a selected bus device give acontinuous tone from its sounder. Once you havefound the bus device you can silence the toneeither by opening the case and so activating thedevice’s tamper, or by pressing on the keypadfrom which you are carrying out the test.Replacing or Removing Wired KeypadsIf you need to remove or replace a wired keypadfrom the system at any point then you must followthe correct procedure. Before physicallydisconnecting the keypad enter the InstallerMenu. Then:To permanently remove a keypad:Use the Devices/Detectors-Wired Keypads-DeleteKeypad option. This ensures that the system doesnot report a missing keypad and the keypad’sinternal address is erased (allowing it to be usedon another system).To replace a keypad:Use the Devices/Detectors-Wired Keypads-ReplaceKeypad option. This ensures that the replacementkeypad will retain the programming of the oldkeypad.See the i-on Engineering Guide for more details.Note: If you are replacing a keypad on a single-keypad system then you will have to re-programthe new keypad with all the functions of the oldkeypad, including any non-default ABCD keyfunctions.
