Strictadherence to the installation instructions willensure that the equipment continues to complywith the safety regulations to which it wasapproved.TNV - Telephone line connector.SELV – All other connectors.Figure 51 SELV and TNV connectorsConnecting the Telephone LineConnecting the telephone line directly to theterminals on the internal communicator, orindirectly through other apparatus, can producehazardous conditions on the telephone network.Always seek advice from a competent telephoneengineer if in any doubt about connecting to theseterminals.Example – connecting a line in the UK:The internal communicator must be connected tothe telephone network by:a) If the wiring is owned by British Telecom:British Telecom.b) If the wiring is not owned by British Telecom, one of:(i) British Telecom.(ii) The authorised maintainer.(iii) A professional Installer, after 14 dayswritten notice to the authorisedmaintainer. To connect the telephone line (see Figure 52):(i) Using a two-core telephone cable, strip off5mm and feed the cable through one ofthe entries (marked “10” in Fig. 2) in therear of the control unit. Connect the twocores to terminals A and B on the mainPCB.(ii) Connect the other end of the two cores tothe corresponding terminals on the BTmaster box.Figure 52 Connecting the Internal CommunicatorFit ADSL FilterIf the telephone line is being shared by abroadband service then you should fit abroadband filter to the line. Eaton’s SecurityBusiness provides the ADSL01 filter that plugsonto pins provided for the purpose on the maincircuit board of the control unit (see 21 in Figure3). Figure 53 shows how to fit the filter.Figure 53 Fitting the ADSL01 Filter.Note: If you remove the ADSL01 filter then re-fitthe jumpers to the outermost pairs of pins. If youfail to re-fit the jumpers the internal communicatorwill not connect to the phone line.Step 9. Fit a Plug-ByCommunicatorThe control unit can be connected to a separatecommunicator or speech dialler (for example, theScantronic 8400, 660 or RedCare STU). Figure 54shows the connections provided by thecommunications wiring harness.
