12CS-450P6. Mount guide bar on studs and slide towardclutch to make saw chain installation easier. In-stall chain with cutters on top of guide bar facingforward.7. Unlock the chain brake, and install the clutchcover over the guide bar studs. Ensure chaintension adjuster pin fits into the guide baradjuster hole, brake band is positioned aroundclutch drum, and pin at rear of clutch cover fitshole on engine cover. Tighten clutch cover nutsfinger tight.8. Turn saw over, and check brake band for correctposition on clutch drum. If brake band is not inplace around drum, remove cover, make surebrake is unlocked, and reinstall. Tighten clutchcover nuts finger tight.WARNINGImproper clutch cover assembly can resultin serious injury, and will cause severesaw damage if unit is started. Never startor operate saw if brake band is not in placeon clutch drum. Always check chain brakeoperation after replacing cover. Do notuse saw if chain brake does not functionproperly.ADJUSTING CHAIN TENSIONIMPORTANTAlways loosen clutch cover nuts before turningthe chain tension adjuster, otherwise the clutchcover and tensioner will be damaged.1. Loosen air cleaner cover knob and remove aircleaner cover.2. Remove spark plug lead.3. Loosen two clutch cover nuts, if necessary.4. Hold the bar nose up, and turn the adjusterscrew clockwise until chain contacts undersideof the bar.5. Tighten both nuts with the bar nose held up.6. Pull the chain around the bar by hand. Loosenthe adjustment if you feel tight spots.7. When chain is properly tensioned, tighten clutchcover nuts securely - 20 to 23 N·m (175 to 200in. lb.).8.
