10The Right Hand Tall OvenThe fan in the right hand oven circulates hot aircontinuously, which means faster more evencooking. The recommended cooking temperatures for afanned oven are generally lower than a non-fannedoven.The right hand Tall oven control is on the right handside of the control panel.Turn the oven temperatureknob to the temperatureyou need. The oven indicator lightwill glow until the oven hasreached the temperatureyou selected. It will thencycle on and off duringcooking.Multi-function oven functionsThe Multi-function oven has many varied uses. Wesuggest you keep a careful eye on your cooking untilyou are familiar with each function. Remember - notall functions will be suitable for all food types.DefrostThis function operates the fan to circulate coldair only. No heat is applied. This enables small itemssuch as desserts, cream cakes and pieces of meat, fish and poultry to be defrosted.Defrosting in this way speeds up the process andprotects the food from flies. Pieces of meat, fish andpoultry should be placed on a rack, over a tray tocatch any drips. Be sure to wash the rack and trayafter defrosting.Defrost with the oven door closed.Large items, such as whole chickens and jointsshould not be defrosted in this way. We recommendthis be carried out in a refrigerator.Defrosting should not be carried out in a warm ovenor when an adjoining oven is in use or still warm.Ensure that dairy foods, meat and poultry arecompletely defrosted before cooking.Fan ovenThis function operates the fan and the heatingelement around it. An even heat is producedthroughout the oven, allowing you to cook largeamounts quickly.Fan oven cooking is particularly suitable for bakingon several shelves at one time and is a good ‘all-round’ function. It may be necessary to reduce thetemperature by approximately 10°C for recipespreviously cooked in a conventional oven.If you wish to pre-heat the oven, wait until theindicator light has gone out before inserting the food.Fanned grilling in the ovenThis function operates the fan whilst the topelement is on. It produces a more even, less fierceheat than a conventional grill. For best results, placethe food to be grilled, on a grid over a roasting tin, which should be smaller than a conventional grillpan. This allows greater air circulation. Thick piecesof meat or fish are ideal for grilling in this way, as thecirculated air reduces the fierceness of the heat fromthe grill. The oven door should be kept closed whilstgrilling is in progress, so saving energy. You will alsofind that the food needs to be watched and turnedless than for normal grilling. Pre-heat this functionbefore cooking.Fan assisted ovenThis function operates the fan, circulating airheated by the elements at the top and the base ofthe oven. The combination of fan and conventionalcooking (top and base heat) makes this function idealfor cooking large items that need thorough cooking, such as a large meat roast. It is also possible tobake on two shelves at one time, although they willneed to be swapped over during the cooking time, asthe heat at the top of the oven is greater than at thebase, when using this function. This is a fast intensive form of cooking; keep aneye on the food cooking until you have becomeaccustomed to this function.
