16 enNever look or stare into the light of the power tool’s lampfrom a short distance. Never point the light of the lampinto the eyes of other persons in close vicinity. The radi-ation produced by the lamp can be harmful for the eye.Do not direct the power tool against yourself, other per-sons or animals. Danger of injury from sharp or hotapplication tools.Use and handling of the battery (battery pack). To avoid hazardous situations such as burns, fire, explo-sion, skin injuries, and other injuries when handling thebattery, observe the following instructions:Batteries must not be disassembled, opened or reducedin size. Do not subject batteries to mechanical impact orshock. Hazardous vapours and fluid can escape in case ofdamage and improper use of the battery. The vapours canirritate the respiratory system. Liquid ejected from thebattery may cause skin irritations or burns. When battery fluid from a damaged battery has come intocontact with objects close by, check the respective com-ponents, clean them or replace them as required.Keep the battery away from heat and fire. Do not store thebattery in direct sunlight.Do not remove the battery from its original packaginguntil it is going to be used. Before any work on the machine itself, remove the bat-tery from the power tool. If the power tool accidentallystarts, there is danger of injury.Remove the battery only when the power tool is switchedoff.Keep the battery away from children.Keep the battery clean and protect it against moistureand water. Clean contaminated battery terminals andpower tool connections with a dry, clean cloth.Use only intact original FEIN batteries that are intendedfor your power tool. When working with and chargingincorrect, damaged, repaired or reconditioned batteries, imitations or other brands, there is danger of fire and/orexplosion.Follow the safety warnings in the operating instructionsof the battery charger.Hand/arm vibrationsThe vibration emission level given in this informationsheet has been measured in accordance with a standard-ised test given in EN 60745 and may be used to compareone tool with another. It may be used for a preliminaryassessment of exposure. The declared vibration emission level represents themain applications of the tool. However, if the tool is usedfor different applications, with different accessories orpoorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may significantly increase the exposure level overthe total working period. An estimation of the level of exposure to vibrationshould also take into account the times when the tool isswitched off or when it is running but not actually doingthe job. This may significantly reduce the exposure levelover the total working period.Identify additional safety measures to protect the opera-tor from the effects of vibration such as: maintain the tooland the accessories, keep the hands warm, organisationof work patterns.Handling hazardous dustsFor work procedures with this power tool where mate-rial is removed, dusts develop that can be hazardous toone’s health.Contact with or inhaling some dust types, e. g. asbestosand asbestos-containing materials, lead-containing coat-ings, metal, some wood types, minerals, silicate particlesfrom materials containing stone, paint solvents, woodpreservatives, antifouling paints for vessels, can triggerallergic reactions to the operator or bystanders and/orlead to respiratory infections, cancer, birth defects orother reproductive harm. The risk from inhaling dustsdepends on the exposition. Use dust extraction matchedappropriately for the developing dust, as well as personalprotective equipment and provide for good ventilation ofthe workplace. Leave the processing of asbestos-contain-ing materials to specialists.Wood and light-metal dust, hot mixtures of sanding dustand chemical materials can self-ignite under unfavourableconditions or cause an explosion. Avoid sparking in thedirection of the dust collector as well as overheating ofthe power tool and the materials being sanded, empty thedust collector/container in time, observe the materialmanufacturer’s working instructions, as well as the rele-vant regulations in your country for the materials beingworked.Operating Instructions.Adjust the rotation selector switch only when themachine is at a complete stop.In case of overload, the machine switches off.To avoid accidental starting, e. g., during transport, setthe rotation selector switch to the centre position.Apply the power tool to the nut or screw only whenswitched off, as a rotating application tool could slip off.The torque depends on the impact duration. The maxi-mum torque is reached after an impact duration of 6–10 seconds. After this period, further torque increase isonly marginal. An unnecessary long impact period alsoincreases the wear of the power tool.Determine the impact duration for each required tighten-ing torque. Check the actually reached tightening torquewith a torque wrench.Handling the battery.Operate and charge the battery only within the batteryoperating-temperature range of 0°C – 45°C (32°F –113°F). At the beginning of the charging procedure, thebattery temperature must be within the battery operat-ing-temperature range.OBJ_BUCH-0000000117-001.book Page 16 Tuesday, April 16, 2013 4:10 PM |
