The documents mentioned should bekept for later use and enclosed with the power tool,should it be passed on or sold.Please also observe the relevant national industrial safetyregulations.Intended use of the power tool:Hand-guided straight grinder for commercial use, for drygrinding of metal with grinding points in weather-pro-tected environments using the application tools andaccessories recommended by FEIN.MSh636-1: The straight grinder is also intended for shap-ing metal with hard metal cutters.Safety warnings common for sanding, sanding withsanding sheets, working with wire brushes,polishing and cut-off grindingThis power tool is to be used as a grinder. Observe all safetywarnings, instructions, illustrations and data supplied withthe power tool. Non-observance of the following instruc-tions can lead to electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.This power tool is not suitable for sanding with sandingsheets, working with wire brushes, polishing and cut-offgrinding. Applications, for which the power tool is notintended for, can lead to hazardous situations and injury.Do not use accessories which are not specifically designedand recommended by the tool manufacturer. Just becausethe accessory can be attached to your power tool, it doesnot assure safe operation.The rated speed of the accessory must be at least equal tothe maximum speed marked on the power tool. Accessoriesrunning faster than their rated speed can break and flyapart.The outside diameter and the thickness of your accessorymust be within the capacity rating of your power tool.Incorrectly sized accessories cannot be adequatelyguarded or controlled.The arbor size of wheels, flanges, backing pads or any otheraccessory must properly fit the spindle of the power tool.Accessories with arbor holes that do not match themounting hardware of the power tool will run out of bal-ance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss of control.Do not use a damaged accessory. Before each use inspectthe accessory such as abrasive wheels for chips andcracks, backing pad for cracks, tear or excess wear, wirebrush for loose or cracked wires. If power tool or accessoryis dropped, inspect for damage or install an undamagedaccessory. After inspecting and installing an accessory,position yourself and bystanders away from the plane of therotating accessory and run the power tool at maximum no-load speed for one minute. Damaged accessories will nor-mally break apart during this test time.Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on appli-cation, use face shield, safety goggles or safety glasses. Asappropriate, wear dust mask, hearing protectors, glovesand workshop apron capable of stopping small abrasive orworkpiece fragments. The eye protection must be capableof stopping flying debris generated by various operations.The dust mask or respirator must be capable of filtratingparticles generated by your operation. Prolonged expo-sure to high intensity noise may cause hearing loss.Keep bystanders a safe distance away from work area. Any-one entering the work area must wear personal protectiveequipment. Fragments of workpiece or of a broken acces-sory may fly away and cause injury beyond immediatearea of operation.Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, whenperforming an operation where the cutting accessory maycontact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessorycontacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts ofthe power tool “live” and shock the operator.Position the cord clear of the spinning accessory. If youlose control of the power tool, the cord may be cut orsnagged and your hand or arm may be pulled into thespinning accessory.Never lay the power tool down until the accessory has cometo a complete stop. The spinning accessory may grab thesurface and pull the power tool out of your control.Do not run the power tool while carrying it at your side.Accidental contact with the spinning accessory could snagyour clothing, pulling the accessory into your body.Regularly clean the power tool’s air vents. The motor’s fanwill draw the dust inside the housing and excessive accu-mulation of powdered metal may cause electrical haz-ards.Do not operate the power tool near flammable materials.Sparks could ignite these materials.Do not use accessories that require liquid coolants. Usingwater or other liquid coolants may result in electrocutionor shock.Kickback and related warningsKickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snaggedrotating wheel, backing pad, brush or any other acces-sory. Pinching or snagging causes rapid stalling of therotating accessory which in turn causes the uncontrolledpower tool to be forced in the direction opposite of theaccessory’s rotation at the point of the binding.For example, if an abrasive wheel is snagged or pinchedby the workpiece, the edge of the wheel that is enteringinto the pinch point can dig into the surface of the mate-rial causing the wheel to climb out or kick out. The wheelmay either jump toward or away from the operator,depending on direction of the wheel’s movement at thepoint of pinching. Abrasive wheels may also break underthese conditions.Kickback is the result of power tool misuse and/or incor-rect operating procedures or conditions and can beavoided by taking proper precautions as given below.WARNING3 41 00 324 06 9.book Seite 17 Mittwoch, 29.
