Page 88Appendix 1 GardTec 872Appendix 1Using Point IDThe ProDigi Communicator or GardTec Modem from GardTec may, if required be usedto allow Point ID communication with the GardTec 872. When used in this mode theProDigi/Modem will use the Ademco Point ID Protocol.Point ID allows for the transmission of zone and detector types to be transmitted alongwith the alarm information. This qualifies as sequential verification as recommended bythe 1995 ACPO policy. To use Point ID the ProDigi/Modem should be connected to the GardTec 872 via theserial lead that is supplied with it (this is shown in Fig 16 on page 25).To use the communicator in Point ID mode and program the relevant functions, thecontrol panel needs to be told that it is to use the ProDigi as a Point ID communicator. This is done via option 34 in the engineer options (Digicom Type), which should bechanged to:-Digicom Type.....= Point ID or Mod+PID for the ModemIf using an LED type keypad to select Point ID:-With the display showing E- press 34 followed by YESThen press NO 03 (or 04 for Modem) followed by YESIt should be noted that although you are able to turn on the Point ID function via anLED keypad you will not be able to program the Digicom functions unless you areworking via an LCD keypad. This allows for a pre-programmed ProDigi to be fitted ontoan existing system with LED only keypads. When using the ProDigi or Modem with the GardTec 872 control panel you willbe able to use the ProDigi as a Point ID communicator or fast formatcommunicator. It is not possible to use both formats at the same time.
