FLOORING AND LEVELING —Flooring Under the RangeYour range, like so many other household items,is heavy and can settle into soft floor coveringssuch as cushioned vinyl or carpeting. When movingthe range on this type of flooring, use care, and it isrecommended that these simple and inexpensiveinstructions be followed. The range should be installed on a l/4-inch-thicksheet of plywood (or similar material) as follows:When the floor covering ends at the front of therange, the area that the range will rest on should bebuilt up with plywood to the same level or higher thanthe floor covering. This will allow the range to bemoved for cleaning or servicing.Leveling the RangeUse a 1%” open-end or adjustable wrench to equallyback out the four legs. The flanges (rims) below thesides of the maintop must be raised above the top ofthe countertop. Carefully slide the range into itsinstallation space. Observe that it is clearing thecountertop. Then place a spirit level or a glassmeasuring cup partially filled with water on one of theoven shelves to check for levelness. If using a spiritlevel, take two readings, with the level placeddiagonally first in one direction and then the other.Adjust the four legs carefully. Level the range front toback and side to side. The range legs must rest on thefloor. The range must not hang from the countertop.—.—6
