22How to set the oven for cleaningThe control can be set to self-clean the oven using veryhigh temperatures, during which time the oven door mustbe locked. The cleaning time can be set from 2 hours ofcleaning for light soiling, or up to 4 hours for heavysoiling. Use 3 hours for normal cleaning.Before Self-cleaning1. Follow the instruction in “BEFORE SELF-CLEANINGTHE OVEN”.How to set the controls to start the self-cleaning now1. With the oven door closed, slide the latch handle to theright as far as it will go. (Never force the latch handleor you could damage the locking mechanism.)2. Press the CLEANbutton. (0:00 will bedisplayed and the‘CLEAN’ light willstart flashing.)NOTE: “dr” will be displayed and the control cannot beset for self-cleaning if the latch handle has notbeen moved to the locked position.3. Press the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons. (The defaultclean time of 3:00 will be displayed.)4. Press the UP/DOWN ARROW button for a longer orshorter clean time.5. Five seconds after the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons havebeen pressed for the last time, the ‘CLEAN’ indicatorlight will stop flashing, the “OVEN ON” light willcome on and the self-cleaning cycle will start.6. The display will show the amount of clean timeremaining. (As the oven heats up, the door latchmechanism operates to prevent the latch handle frombeing slid to the left, and prevents the door from beingopened.)7. After the cleaning cycle, the indicator lights will goout and the clock will be displayed. (The oven doorcannot be opened until the oven has cooled down.)8. Wait an additional 1hours, then slide thelatch handle to theleft, back to the un-locked position.NOTE: Press the OFF button if you want to cancel theself-clean cycle after it has started. Allow theoven to cool down before unlatching the door.How to set the control to start the self-cleaningat some later timeThe control can be set to start the self-clean cycle atsome time within the next 12 hours.For example: Say that it is 7:00 am now and you want theoven to be cleaned for 4 hours starting at8:00 am.Here is how to set the control:1. Read and follow the instructions in “BEFORE SELF-CLEANING THE OVEN”.2. With the oven door closed, slide the latch handle to theright as far as it will go. (Never force the latch handleor you could damage the locking mechanism.)3. Press the CLEAN button. (0:00 will be displayed and the‘CLEAN’ light will start flashing.)4. Press the UP/DOWN ARROW button. (3:00 will bedisplayed.)5. Press the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons until 4:00 (thecleaning time) is displayed.6. Press the START TIME button. (The current time of7:00 will be displayed.)7. Press the UP ARROW button to change the start time to8:00.8. Five seconds after the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons havebeen pressed for the last time, the control will be set.9. At 8:00 am the self-clean cycle will start and shut-offat 12:00.10. The display will show the amount of clean timeremaining. (As the oven heats up, the door latchmechanism operates to prevent the latch handle frombeing slid to the left and prevents the door from beingopened.)11. After the cleaning cycle, the indicator lights will goout and the clock will be displayed. (The oven doorcannot be opened until the oven has cooled down.)Wait an additional 1 hour, then slide the latch handle tothe left, back to the un-locked position.Operating the Self-Cleaning Oven (on some models) Normal Cleaning Time: 3 hours |
