33Care and CleaningOven ShelvesClean the shelves with an abrasive cleanser or steelwool. After cleaning, rinse the shelves with cleanwater, rinse and dry.NOTE: The oven shelves may also be cleaned in theself-cleaning oven, however, the shelves will darkenin color, lose their luster and become hard to slide ifcleaned during the self-cleaning cycle.Broiler Pan and GridAfter broiling, remove the broiler pan from the oven.Remove the grid from the pan. Carefully pour out thegrease from the pan into a proper container. Wash andrinse the broiler pan and grid in hot water with a soap-filled or plastic scouring pad.The enamel grid and broiler pan may be cleaned inthe self-clean oven. However, to prevent heavy smokecaused by self-cleaning the greasy soil in the pan, youmust first clean off the excess grease.If food has burned on, sprinkle the grid withdetergent while hot and cover with wet papertowels or a dishcloth. Soaking the pan will removeburned-on foods.The broiler pan may be cleaned with a commercialoven cleaner. If the grid is grey enamel, it can also becleaned with an oven cleaner. If the grid is chrome, donot use an oven cleaner to clean it.Both the broiler pan and grid can also be cleaned inthe dishwasher.Do not store a soiled broiler pan and grid anywhere inthe range.How to Remove the Storage Drawer or Kick Panel to Clean Under the RangeThe area under the range can be reached easilyfor cleaning by removing the bottom drawer (onsome models). To remove, pull the drawer out allthe way, tilt up the front and remove it. To replace,insert glides at the back of the drawer beyond thestop on range glides. Lift the drawer if necessary toinsert easily. Let the front of the drawer down, thenpush in to close.To clean under models with a front kick panel,remove the panel by pulling it straight out at thebottom. To replace the panel, first hook the top tabson and then the bottom tabs.
