The filter statusmessage must be reset manually.The “Water Filter: Replace” status message can be reset byentering the Settings menu from the home screen. Then, selectthe Water Filter menu and press the RESET button. This will resetthe filter status.Non-touch Screen Models: A filter indicator light (or message)will illuminate on the screen when the water filter needs to bereplaced. This light must be reset by pressing and holding theReset Filter button for three seconds.The filter cartridge has a maximum life of six months andshould be replaced when indicated by the filter indicator on therefrigerator, or sooner if a significant reduction in flow occurs.Removing the filter cartridgeTo replace the filter, first remove the old cartridge by openingthe filter door and pulling on the bottom of the cartridge to allowit to swing outward. When the cartridge can no longer swing,gently pull to unseat it from the cartridge holder. DO NOT TWISTCARTIDGE. A newlyinstalled filter cartridge will causewater to spurt from the dispenser. Usea large pitcher or sports bottle to catchthe water spray. DO NOT use the hotwater dispenser or hands-free auto-fill(some models) until all air is removedfrom the system.4. Reset Filter Status messageTouch Screen Models: Access RESET button through the WaterFilter menu.Non-touch Screen Models: Press and hold the Reset Filter buttonfor three seconds.WARNING Using the hot water dispenser prior to purging airfrom the system may result in spurting of hot water and leadto hot water scalding. Follow the instructions above to purge all airfrom the system through the cold water dispenser prior to using thehot water dispenser.Note: It is normal for water to appear discolored during the initialsystem flush. Water color will return to normal after first few minutesof dispensing.Filter Bypass PlugTo reduce the risk of property damage due to water leakage, youMUST use the filter bypass plug when a replacement filter cartridgeis not available. The dispenser and icemaker will not operate withouteither the filter or bypass plug installed.
