Aluminum residuessometimes appear as scratches on thecooktop but can be removed if cleanedimmediately. Because of its low meltingpoint, thin weight aluminum should notbe used.Copper Bottom:recommendedCopper may leave residues which canappear as scratches. The residues canbe removed, as long as the cooktopis cleaned immediately. However, donot let these pots boil dry. Overheatedmetal can bond to glass cooktops. Anoverheated copper bottom pot will leavea residue that will permanently stain thecooktop if not removed immediately.Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron:recommended if bottom of pan is coatedPorcelain Enamel on Steel:not recommendedHeating empty pans can causepermanent damage to cooktop glass.The enamel can melt and bond to theceramic cooktop.Glass-ceramic:not recommendedPoor performance. Will scratch thesurface.Stoneware:not recommendedPoor performance. May scratch thesurface.Cast Iron:not recommended—unless designedspecifically for glass cooktopsPoor conductivity and slow to absorbheat. Will scratch the cooktop surface.Check pans for flat bottoms by usinga straight edge.Pans with rounded, curved, ridged orwarped bottoms are not recommended.Do not place wet pans on the glass cooktop.Do not use woks with support rings on theglass cooktop.Use flat-bottomed woks on the glass cooktop.For Best Results Place only dry pans on the surface elements. Do notplace lids on the surface elements, particularly wetlids. Wet pans and lids may stick to the surface whencool. Do not use woks that have support rings. This type ofwok will not heat on glass surface elements. We recommend that you use only a flat-bottomedwok. They are available at your local retail store. Thebottom of the wok should have the same diameter asthe surface element to ensure proper contact. Some special cooking procedures require specificcookware such as pressure cookers or deep-fatfryers. All cookware must have flat bottoms and bethe correct size.
