You may hear slightclicking sounds during cooking,indicating the control is keeping thepower level you set.The control must be pushed in to setonly from the OFF position. When thecontrol is in any position other than OFF,it may be rotated without pushing it in.The ON indicator light will glow whenany surface unit is on.Be sure you turn the control knob to OFFwhen you finish cooking.Cooktop temperatures increase withthe number of surface units that are on.With 3 or 4 units turned on, surfacetemperatures are high, so be carefulwhen touching the cooktop.A HOT SURFACE indicator light will glowwhen any radiant element is turned onand will remain on until the surface iscooled to approximately 66°C (150°F).NOTE: It comes on when the unit is hot to the touch. It stays on even after the unit is turned off. It glows brightly until the unit is cooled toapproximately 66°C (150°F).Never cook directly on the glass.Always use cookware.About the radiant surface units…The radiant cooktop features heatingunits beneath a smooth glass surface.NOTE: A slight odor is normal when a newcooktop is used for the first time. It is caused bythe heating of new parts and insulating materialsand will disappear in a short time.NOTE: On models with light-colored glasscooktops, it is normal for the cooking zones tochange color when hot or cooling down. This istemporary and will disappear as glass cools toroom temperature.The surface unit will cycle on and off tomaintain your selected control setting.It is safe to place hot cookware from theoven or surface on the glass cooktopwhen the surface is cool.Even after the surface units are turnedoff, the glass cooktop retains enoughheat to continue cooking. To avoidovercooking, remove pans from thesurface units when the food is cooked.Avoid placing utensils that could becomehot or plastics that could melt on thesurface element until it has cooledcompletely. Water stains (mineral deposits) are removableusing the cleaning cream or full strength whitevinegar. Use of window cleaner may leave aniridescent film on the cooktop. The cleaningcream will remove this discoloration. Don’t store heavy items above the cooktop. Ifthey drop onto the cooktop, they can causedamage. Do not use the surface as a cutting board.Do not slidecookware acrossthe cooktopbecause it canscratch theglass—the glass isscratch-resistant,not scratchproof. |
