(on some models)For many foods, especially roasts and poultry, internal food temperature is the best test for doneness. Thetemperature probe takes the guesswork out of roasting by cooking foods to the exact doneness you want.Use of probes other than the oneprovided with this product may result indamage to the probe.Use the handles of the probe and plugwhen inserting and removing them fromthe food and outlet.nTo avoid damaging your probe, do not usetongs to pull on the cable when removing it.nTo avoid breaking the probe, make sure food iscompletely defrosted before inserting.nTo prevent possible burns, do not unplug theprobe from the outlet until the oven hascooled.nNever leave your probe inside the oven duringa self-cleaning cycle.nDo not store the probe in the oven.The temperature probe has askewer-like probe at one end and aplug at the other end that goes intothe outlet in the oven.After preparing the meat and placing iton a trivet or on the broiler pan grid,follow these directions for proper probeplacement.Insert the probe completely into themeat. It should not touch the bone,fat or gristle.For roasts with no bone, insert the probeinto the meatiest part of the roast. Forbone-in ham or lamb, insert the probeinto the center of the lowest large muscle.Insert the probe into the center of dishessuch as meat loaf or casseroles.Insert the probe into the meatiest part ofthe inner thigh from below and parallelto the leg of a whole turkey.How to Set the Oven For Roasting When Using the Probe (on some models)Insert the probe into the food.Plug the probe into the outlet in theoven. Make sure it’s pushed all theway in. Close the oven door. Makesure the probe cable is not touchingthe broil element.Touch thePROBE pad.Touch the number pads to set thedesired internal food or meattemperature.Touch theBAKE pad.Touch the number pads to set thedesired oven temperature.Touch theSTART pad.The display will flash if the probe is inserted intothe outlet and you have not set a probetemperature and touched the START pad.After the internal temperature of thefood reaches 100°F., the changinginternal temperature will be shown inthe display.When the internal temperature ofthe food reaches the number youhave set, the probe and the oventurn off and the oven control signals.To stop the signal, touch theCLEAR/OFF pad. Use hot pads toremove the probe from the food.Do not use tongs to pull on it—theymight damage it.To change the oven temperature duringthe Roast cycle, touch theBAKE pad andthen the number pads to set the newtemperature.nIf the probe is removed from the food beforethe final temperature is reached, a tone willsound and the display will flash until the probeis removed from the oven.nYou can use the timer even though youcannot use timed oven operations whileusing the probe.Plug CableHandlesProbe
