(on some models)If your model has a door latch, do not lock the oven door with the latch while cooking with the probe. The latch is usedfor self-cleaning only.For many foods, especially roasts and poultry, internal food temperature is the best test for doneness. The temperatureprobe takes the guesswork out of cooking foods to the exact doneness you want.Use of probes other than the one provided withthis product may result in damage tothe probe.Use the handles of the probe and plug wheninserting and removing them from the food andoutlet.n To avoid damaging your probe, do not usetongs to pull on the cable when removing it.n To avoid breaking the probe, make sure foodis completely defrosted before inserting.n To prevent possible burns, do not unplug theprobe from the outlet until the oven has cooled.n Never leave your probe inside the ovenduring a self-cleaning cycle.n Do not store the probe in the oven.The temperature probe hasa skewer-like probe at one endand a plug at the other end thatgoes into the outlet in the oven.After preparing the meat and placing it ona trivet or on a broiler pan grid, follow thesedirections for proper probe placement.Insert the probe completely into the meat.It should not touch the bone, fat or gristle.For roasts with no bone, insert the probe intothe meatiest part of the roast. For bone-inham or lamb, insert the probe into the centerof the lowest large muscle.Insert the probe into the center of dishessuch as meat loaf or casseroles.Insert the probe into the meatiest part of theinner thigh from below and parallel to the legof a whole turkey.How to Set the Upper Oven For Cooking When Using the ProbeInsert the probe into the food.Plug the probe into the outlet in theoven. Make sure it’s pushed all theway in. Close the oven door.Touch the Probe pad.Touch the number pads to setthe desired internal food or meattemperature between 100°F and 200°F.Touch the Bake pad.Touch the number pads to set thedesired oven temperature.Touch the Start pad.The display will flash if the probe is insertedinto the outlet and you have not set a probetemperature and touched the Start pad.The display will show LO until the internaltemperature of the food reaches 100°F; thenthe changing internal temperature will beshown.When the internal temperature of thefood reaches the number you have set,the probe and the oven turn off and theoven control signals. To stop the signal,touch the Clear/Off pad. Use hot pads toremove the probe from the food. Do notuse tongs to pull on it—they mightdamage it.To change the oven temperature duringprobe cooking, touch the Bake pad and thenthe number pads to set the new temperature.n If the probe is removed from the food beforethe final temperature is reached, a tone willsound and the display will flash until theprobe is removed from the oven.n You can use the timer even though youcannot use timed oven operations whileusing the probe.PlugProbeCableHandles18
