USING YOUR OVEN(continued)Oven ShelvesThe shelves aredesigned with stop-locks so when placedcorrectly on the shelfsupports, they will stopbefore comingcompletely out of theoven and will not tiltwhen you are removingfood from them orplacing food on them. When placing cookware on a shelf, pull the shelf outto the bump on the shelf support. Place the cookwareon the shelf, then slide the shelf back into the oven. This will eliminate reaching into the hot oven.To remove a shelffrom the oven, pull ittoward you, tilt the frontend upward and pull theshelf out.To replace, place theshelf on the shelf supportwith the stop-locks(curved extension of theshelf) facing up and toward the rear of the oven.Tilt up the front and push the shelf toward the backof the oven until it goes past the bump on the shelfsupport. Then lower the front of the shelf and push itall the way back.Oven VentsThe oven is vented through duct openings at the rearof the cooktop. See the Features section. Do not blockthese openings when cooking in the oven—it isimportant that the flow of hot air from the oven andfresh air to the oven burners be uninterrupted.• The vent openings and nearby surfaces maybecome hot. Do not touch them.• Handles of pots and pans on the cooktop maybecome hot if left too close to the vent.• Metal items will become very hot if they are lefton the cooktop and could cause burns.• Do not leave any items on the cooktop. The hot airfrom the vent may ignite flammable items and willincrease pressure in closed containers, which maycause them to burst.• Do not leave plasticitems on the cooktop—they may melt if lefttoo close to the vent.Shelf PositionsThe oven has five shelf supports for baking androasting identified in this illustration as A (bottom),B, C, D and E (top). It also has a special low shelfposition (R) for roasting extra large items, such as alarge turkey—the shelf is not designed to slide out atthis position. Shelf positions for cooking are suggestedin the Baking, Broiling and Roasting sections.DECBARVent appearance and location vary.Bump12
