22Operating Instructions Safety InstructionsCare and CleaningTroubleshooting TipsConsumer SupportQCC®-1 Quick Closing CouplingYour grill is designed to be used withan LP gas tank equipped with the newQCC-1 Quick Closing Coupling system.The QCC-1 system incorporates newsafety features required by the AmericanNational Standards Institute (ANSI).n Gas will not flow until a positiveconnection has been made.n A thermal element will shut off theflow of gas between 240° and 300°F.n When activated, a Flow LimitingDevice will limit the flow of gas to10 cubic feet per hour.When you obtain, replace or exchangean LP tank, be sure to purchase one withthe QCC valve. This valve is recognizedby the external threads on the inlet portof the valve. QCC equipped tanks areavailable from your gas grill dealer.Any attempt to connect the regulator, byuse of adapters or any other means, to anyother valve could result in damage, fire orinjury and may negate the important safetyfeatures designed into the QCC-1 system.Leak TestingAll factory-made connections havebeen thoroughly tested for gas leaks.However, shipping and handling mayhave loosened a gas fitting.AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION:nTEST ALL FITTINGS FOR LEAKS BEFOREUSING YOUR GAS GRILL.nTEST THE LP TANK VALVE FOR LEAKSEACH TIME THE TANK IS FILLED.nTEST FOR LEAKS EVERY TIME YOUCONNECT A GAS FITTING.nDO NOT SMOKE.nNEVER TEST FOR LEAKS WITH ALIGHTED MATCH OR OPEN FLAME.nTEST FOR LEAKS OUTDOORS.TO TEST FOR LEAKS:Prepare a soap solution of one partwater, one part liquid detergent.1. Extinguish any open flame orcigarettes in the area.2. Make sure the LP tank valve is closedand the grill controls are turnedtoOFF.3. Connect LP gas tank. SeeConnectingthe LP Tank to the Regulator.4. With a full LP tank, open tank slowly.5. Wet each connection with the soapsolution.6. A leak is identified by a flow ofbubbles from the area of the leak.7. If a leak is detected, close the LP tankvalve, tighten the connection andretest (Steps 4–6).8. If the leak persists, contact your grilldealer for assistance. Do not attempt tooperate grill if a leak is present.About the LP gas tank (not included – obtain locally).WARNING!Do not use an open flame to checkfor gas leaks. Be sure there are nosparks or open flames in the areawhile you check for leaks.
