E1Installation Instructions22Checking the IgnitersOperation of the electric igniters shouldbe checked after the cooktop and supplyline have been carefully checked for leaksand the cooktop has been connected tothe electrical power.a. Push and turn a burner valve to the LITEposition.• The burner valve should light when gasis available to the burner• Once the burner lights, it should beturned out of the LITE position.b. Try each valve separately until all burnershave been checked.E2Cooktop Spark Ignition—When you turnthe cooktop knob to LITE, the spark ignitermakes a series of electric sparks (tickingsounds) which light the burner.During a power failure, the burners will notlight automatically. In an emergency, acooktop burner may be lit with a match byfollowing the steps below.WARNING: Lighting gas burners with amatch is dangerous. You should matchlight the cooktop burners only in anemergency.Burner Ignitiona. Light a match and hold the flame near theburner you want to light. Wooden matcheswork best.b. Push in and turn the control knob slowly.Be sure you are turning the correct knobfor the burner you are lighting.NOTE: If the burner does not light within fiveseconds, turn the knob off and wait one minutebefore trying again.E3 The Burner FlamesTurn all burners full on and check the flames.They should be blue in color with no trace ofyellow. Foreign particles in the gas line maycause an orange flame at first, but this willsoon disappear.To make adjustments:a. Remove the control knobs, grates anddrip pans.b. Lift up the cooktop (hinged in rear).c. Use pliers to adjust the air shutter. Be sureto keep the gap in the air shutter facingstraight up. Be very careful not to bendthe air shutter when using pliers to makeadjustments.– If the flames were yellow or fluttered,open the air shutter more than theoriginal setting.– If the flames blew away from the burner,close the air shutter more than theoriginal setting.Cooktop BurnersE
