GEAppliances.comThe oven door must be closed and all controls must be set correctly for the cycle to work properly.Before a Clean CycleWe recommend venting yourkitchen with an open window orusing a ventilation fan or hoodduring the first self-clean cycle.Remove any broiler pan, broiler grid, allcookware and any aluminum foil fromthe oven.The oven racks can be self-cleaned,but they will darken, lose their luster andbecome hard to slide.Do not use abrasives or oven cleaners.Clean the top, sides and outside of theoven door with soap and water.Make sure the oven light bulb cover(on some models) is in place and theoven light is off.IMPORTANT: The health of some birdsis extremely sensitive to the fumes givenoff during the self-cleaning cycle of anyoven. Move birds to another wellventilated room.CAUTION:Never place cookingutensils or any other items on the oven floor.There is a heating element beneath the ovenfloor. Placing items on the oven floor may causethe oven to overheat, resulting in damage tothe oven and risk of damage or fire to cabinets.Wipe up heavy soil on the ovenbottom.How to Set the Oven for CleaningPress the Self Clean pad.Using the number pads, enter thedesired clean time, if a time otherthan 4 hours is needed.Clean cycle time is normally 4 hours. Youcan change the clean time to any timebetween 3 hours and 5 hours, dependingon how dirty your oven is.Press the Start pad.The door locks automatically. The displaywill show the clean time remaining. It willnot be possible to open the oven dooruntil the temperature drops below thelock temperature and the LOCKED orLOCKED DOOR light goes off.When the LOCKED or LOCKED DOOR lightgoes off, you will be able to open thedoor.■ The word LOCKED or LOCKED DOOR willflash and the oven control will signal ifyou set the clean cycle and forget toclose the oven door.■ To stop a clean cycle, press theClear/Off pad. When the LOCKED orLOCKED DOOR light goes off, indicatingthe oven has cooled below the lockingtemperature, you will be able to openthe door.
