Controls —Infinite Heat ControlsYour surface units and controls aredesigned to give you an infinitechoice of heat settings for surfaceunit cooking.At both OFF and HI settings,there is a slight niche. Whenturning the control knob eitherclockwise or counterclockwise toone of these positions, you will feelthe control “click” into the niche.When cooking in a quiet kitchen,you may hear slight “clicking”sounds—an indication that the heatsettings you selected are beingmaintained.Switching heats to higher settingsalways results in a quicker changethan switching to lower settings.Guide for Using HeatsHI (7)-Bring water to boil.MED HI (5-6)—Fast fry, panbroil; maintain fast boil on largeamount of food.MED (4)—Saute and brown;maintain slow boil on large amountof food.MED LO (2-3)—Cook afterstarting at HI; cook with littlewater in covered pan.LO (l)—Maintain servingtemperature of most foods.NOTE:1. At HI (7) orMED HI (5-6),never leave food unattended.Boilovers cause smoking; greasyspillovers may catch fire.2. At LO (1) or MED LO (2-3), meltchocolate, butter on small element.How to Set the ControlsStep 1: Grasp control knob andpush down..Step 2: Turn the knob to desiredheat setting.Control must be pushed in to setonly from OFF position. Whencontrol is in any position otherthan OFF, it maybe rotatedwithout pushing in.Be sure you turn the control knobto OFF when you finish cooking.An indicator light will glow when asurface unit is on.6
