GRIDDLE ACCESSORYYou must have the grill module to use thegriddle accessory.Your non-stick coated griddle provides an extra-largecooking surface for meats, pancakes, or other foodusually prepared in a frying pan or electric skillet.WARNING: Do not use griddle modules JXDD43 orJXDD46 with these cooktops.2020How to Insert the Griddle Accessory and the Grill Module1. Make sure the greasecollector jar is in placebeneath the cooktop.2. Fit the reflector panin the cooktop. Theslots in the pan permitgrease to drain intothe jar. Keep the slotsopen at all times.3. Make sure all controlsare turned to OFF. Holdthe heating element withthe plug facing the sideof the cooktop and levelwith the surface. Insertthe plug into the cooktopoutlet as far as it will go.(Do not force.) Theheating element supportshould rest on the ledgeof the reflector pan.4. Place the griddle plateon the reflector pan overthe heating element. Theplate should be seatedproperly on the reflectorpan with the griddle’sdrain holes at the front.Removing the Griddle ModuleWhen removing the parts of the grill module to clean, be sure all switchesare in the OFF position and the module is cool. Remove the griddle plateand then slide the heating element toward the center of the cooktop until itis unplugged. Remove the reflector pan. Empty grease collector jar whencool. Be sure to replace the jar.Using the GriddleThe non-stick griddle must be preconditioned beforeusing it for the first time. To precondition, first washthe griddle in soap and water and dry. Then use a papertowel to apply a small amount of cooking oil to thegriddle. Remove excess oil with a clean paper towel.Preheat the griddle as recommended in the GriddleCooking Guide. After preheating for the recommendedamount of time, apply a small amount of oil or butter.Do not overheat the griddle. Leaving the griddle at HIfor more than 5 minutes without food can damage thenon-stick coating.Because the heating element under the griddle is divided,you can vary the temperature of the front and rear sections.
