Doing so maydamage the cooktop and the pan. Do not allow water, other liquids or greaseto remain on the cooktop. Do not operate the glass surface elementsif the glass is broken. Spillovers or cleaningsolution may penetrate a broken cooktopand create a risk of electrical shock.Contact a qualified technician immediatelyshould your glass cooktop become broken. Spilled or burnt-on foods may causeaccidental activation or deactivation of thekeypad. Clean the keypad thoroughly, andcontrols will resume normal operation. To prevent accidental activation of thecooktop, do not place any objects on ornear the keypad. Clean the cooktop with caution. Alwayslock the control panel using the controllock feature and wait until the entire glasssurface is cool before attempting to cleanthe cooktop. See the Locking the Cooktopsection for details. If a wet sponge or clothis used to wipe spills on a hot surfaceelement, be careful to avoid steam burns.Some cleansers can produce noxiousfumes if applied to a hot surface. To avoid possible damage to the cookingsurface, do not apply the cleaning creamto the glass surface when it is hot. After cleaning, use a dry cloth or papertowel to remove all the cleaning creamresidue. Read and follow all instructions andwarnings on the cleaning cream labels. Large scratches or impacts to cooktops canlead to broken or shattered glass. Use care when touching the cooktop.
