7HOW TO CONNECT ELECTRICITYRefrigerator MUST be plugged into afunctioning GFCI circuit. Test your circuitby plugging your refrigerator into theoutlet and pressing the test button for thatcircuit, verifying that the unit turns off(the light will not work with the dooropen). Then press the Reset button andconfirm that the light comes on with thedoor open. If you do not know if you havea GFCI circuit, contact a qualifiedelectrician for assistance.Do not place the unit in standing water orallow the power cord to be immersed.Do not, under any circumstances, cut orremove the third (ground) prong fromthe power cord. For personal safety, thisappliance must be properly grounded.The power cord of this appliance isequipped with a 3-prong (grounding)plug which mates with a standard 3-prong(grounding) wall outlet to minimize thepossibility of electric shock hazard fromthis appliance.Have the electrical outlet and circuitchecked by a qualified electrician to makesure the outlet is properly grounded.Where a standard 2-prong electricaloutlet is encountered, it is your personalresponsibility and obligation to haveit replaced with a properly grounded3-prong wall outlet.The appliance should always be pluggedinto its own individual electrical outletwhich has a voltage rating that matchesthe rating plate. This provides the bestperformance and also prevents overloadinghouse wiring circuits which could cause afire hazard from overheated wires.Never unplug an appliance by pulling onthe power cord. Always grip the plug firmlyand pull straight out from the outlet.Repair or replace immediately all powercords that have become frayed or otherwisedamaged.
