You cancheck the status of the water filter manually.Access By: Home > Options > Dispenser Options> Reset Water FilterNon-LCD Models:There is a replacement indicator light for thewater filter cartridge on the dispenser. This lightwill turn orange to tell you that you need toreplace the filter soon.The filter cartridge should be replaced when thereplacement indicator light turns red or if theflow of water to the dispenser or icemakerdecreases.Removing the Filter CartridgeIf you are replacing the cartridge, first removethe old one by slowly turning it to the left. Do notpull down on the cartridge. A small amount ofwater may drip down.Installing the Filter CartridgeThere is an adapter attached to the top ofthe new filter cartridge.The adapter must be removed beforeinstalling the cartridge. To remove theadapter, turn it to the left about 1/4 turn.Fill the replacement cartridge with waterfrom the tap to allow for better flow fromthe dispenser immediately after installation.Line up the arrow on the cartridge and thecartridge holder. Place the top of the newcartridge up inside the holder. Do not pushit up into the holder.Slowly turn it to the right until the filtercartridge stops. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Asyou turn the cartridge, it will automaticallyraise itself into position. The cartridge willrotate about 1/2 turn.Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutesto clear the system and prevent sputtering.LCD Models:Press FILTER REPLACED buttonto confirm replacement.Non-LCD Models:Press and hold the RESET FILTER pad(on some models) on the dispenser for3 seconds.NOTE: A newly installed water filter cartridge may causewater to spurt from the dispenser.Filter Bypass PlugYou must use the filter bypass plug when areplacement filter cartridge is not available.The dispenser and the icemaker will not operatewithout the filter or filter bypass plug.Replacement Filters:To order additional filter cartridges in the UnitedStates, visit our Website, ge.com, or call GE Partsand Accessories, 800.626.2002.MSWFSuggested Retail $36.95–$41.95 USDCustomers in Canada should consultthe yellow pages for the nearest Mabe ServiceCenter.Place the top of the cartridge upinside the cartridge holder andslowly turn it to the right.QuickFreezePlateFilterBypassPlugSmartWaterCartridgeHolder9
