49-80684 13Your new oven has a variety of cooking modes to help you get the best results. These modes are describedbelow. Refer to the Cooking Guide section for recommendations for specific foods. Remember, your new ovenmay perform differently than the oven it is replacing.Baking and Roasting ModesSelect a mode for baking and roasting based on thetype and quantity of food you are preparing. Whenpreparing baked goods such as cakes, cookies, andpastries always preheat the oven first. Follow reciperecommendations for food placement. If no guidelinesare provided, center food in the oven.Traditional BakeThe traditional bake mode is intended for single rackcooking. This mode uses heat primarily from the lowerelement but also from the upper element to cook food.To use this mode press the Bake pad under Traditional,enter a temperature, and then press Start. Preheating isgenerally recommended when using this mode.Convection Bake with Direct AirThe Convection Bake mode is intended for single rackcooking. This mode uses heat from the lower elementand also the upper and rear elements, along with airmovement directly down from the top of the oven toenhance evenness. Your oven is equipped with AutoRecipe Conversion, so it is not necessary to convertthe temperature when using this mode. To use thismode press the Bake pad under Convection, entera temperature, and then press Start. Preheating isgenerally recommended when using this mode.Convection Bake Multi RackThe Convection Bake Multi Rack mode is intended forbaking on multiple racks at the same time. This modeuses heat primarily from the rear element but alsoheat from the upper and lower elements, along with airmovement from the convection fan to enhance cookingevenness. Your oven is equipped with Auto RecipeConversion, so it is not necessary to convert thetemperature when using this mode. Baking time mightbe slightly longer for multiple racks than what wouldbe expected for a single rack. To use this mode pressthe Bake Multi Rack pad under Convection, entera temperature, and then press Start. Always preheatwhen using this mode.Convection Roast with Direct AirThe Convection Roast mode is intended for roastingwhole cuts of meat on a single rack. This mode usesheat from the lower, upper, and rear elements alongwith air movement directly down from the top of theoven to improve browning and reduce cooking time. Itis not necessary to convert temperature. Check foodearlier than the recipe suggested time when using thismode, or use the probe. To use this mode press theRoast pad under Convection, enter a temperature,and then press Start. It is not necessary to preheatwhen using this mode.Broiling ModesAlways broil with the door closed. The broil element inthis oven is very powerful. Monitor food closely whilebroiling. Use caution when broiling on upper rackpositions as placing food closer to the broil elementincreases smoking, spattering, and the possibilityof fats igniting. Broiling on rack position 6 is notrecommended.Try broiling foods that you would normally grill. Adjustrack positions to adjust the intensity of the heat to thefood. Place foods closer to the broil element when aseared surface and rare interior is desired. Thickerfoods and foods that need to be cooked through shouldbe broiled on a rack position farther from the broiler orby using Traditional Broil Lo or Convection Broil Lo.Traditional Broil HiThe Traditional Broil Hi mode uses intense heat fromthe upper element to sear foods. Use Broil Hi forthinner cuts of meat and/or foods you prefer less doneon the interior. To use this mode press the Broil padonce under Traditional and then press Start. It is notnecessary to preheat when using this mode.Traditional Broil LoThe Traditional Broil Lo mode uses less intense heatfrom the upper element to cook food thoroughly whilealso producing surface browning. Use Broil Lo for thickercuts of meat and/or foods that you would like cooked allthe way through. To use this mode press the Broil padtwice under Traditional and then press Start. It is notnecessary to preheat when using this mode.Convection Broil Hi with Direct AirThe Convection Broil Hi mode uses intense heat fromthe upper element along with air movement directlydown from the top of the oven for improved searingand browning. To use this mode press the Broil padonce under Convection and then press Start. For bestresults preheat 5 minutes when using this mode.Convection Broil Lo with Direct AirThe Convection Broil Lo mode uses less intense heatfrom the upper element along with air movementdirectly down from the top of the oven. To use thismode press the Broil pad twice under Convectionand then press Start. For best results preheat 5minutes when using this mode.Convection Broil Crisp with Direct AirThe Convection Broil Crisp mode is intended as afinishing mode at the end of a cooking cycle to addsurface browning to a dish such as a casserole or aroast.
