This feature is only used on the dualsurface element when the pan detectionfeature is enabled. When a small pan isplaced on the surface element, the smallsurface element will activate. When a panlarger than 6.0 inches is placed on thesurface element, the large surfaceelement will automatically activate. Thisfeature may be overridden for a singlecooking session while leaving the pandetection feature active (see Dual SurfaceElement section).To turn off this feature and the pan detectionfeature:Touch the PAN pad.The light next to the pad will go out,indicating that pan features are turned off.NOTE: The pan must be centered over thesurface element for this feature to work properly.This feature automatically turns off asurface element after 60 seconds if a panis absent from the surface element. Thepower level display will flash until thesurface element automatically turns offwhen the control detects the absenceof a pan.To activate and deactivate pan detection forall surface elements:Touch the PAN pad. (At least one surfaceelement must be on.) The display willflash “PAN ON” when the pan detectionfeature is on.A signal will sound and a light next tothe PAN pad will indicate whether thefeature is active. If the light is on, pandetection is on, and if the light is off,pan detection is off. When the pandetection feature is disabled, the pansizing feature is also disabled.NOTES: For this feature to work properly, thepan diameter must be greater than 4.0inches and centered on the surfaceelement.
