The latch is used for self-cleaning only.NOTE: Foods that spoil easily—such as milk, eggs, fish, stuffings, poultry and pork—should not be allowed to sit formore than 1 hour before or after cooking. Room temperature promotes the growth of harmful bacteria. Be sure thatthe oven light is off because heat from the bulb will speed harmful bacteria growth.Using the timed baking and roasting features. (on some models) ge.comHow to Set an Immediate Start and Automatic StopThe oven will turn on immediately and cook for aselected length of time. At the end of the cookingtime, the oven will turn off automatically.Touch the BAKE pad.Touch the + or – pads to set theoven temperature.Touch the COOKING TIME pad.NOTE: If your recipe requires preheating, you mayneed to add additional time to the length of thecooking time.Touch the + or – pads to set thebaking time.The cooking time that you enteredwill be displayed. (If you select CookingTime first and then adjust the BakeTemperature, the oven temperaturewill be displayed instead).Touch the START/ON pad.The display shows either the oventemperature that you set or the cookingtime countdown. (The display starts withPrE if showing the oven temperature.)The oven will continue to cook for theprogrammed amount of time, then turnoff automatically.Touch the CLEAR/OFF pad to clearthe display if necessary.Remove the food from the oven. Remember, eventhough the oven shuts off automatically, foodscontinue cooking after controls are off.How to Set a Delayed Start and Automatic StopThe oven will turn on at the time of day you set,cook for a specific length of time and then turn offautomatically.Make sure the clock shows the correcttime of day.Touch the BAKE pad.Touch the + or – pads to set theoven temperature.Touch the COOKING TIME pad.Touch the + or – pads to set thedesired length of cooking time.Touch the START TIME pad.Touch the + or – pads to set the timeof day you want the oven to turn onand start cooking.Touch the START/ON pad.NOTE: An attention tone will sound if you areusing timed baking and do not touch theSTART/ON pad.NOTE: If you would like to check the timesyou have set, touch the START TIME pad tocheck the start time you have set or touchthe COOKING TIME pad to check the lengthof cooking time you have set.When the oven turns on at the time of dayyou have set, the display will show PrE untilit reaches the selected temperature, thenit will display the oven temperature.At the end of cooking time, the ovenwill turn off and the end-of-cycle tonewill sound.Touch the CLEAR/OFF pad to clearthe display if necessary.Remove the food from the oven. Remember, eventhough the oven shuts off automatically, foodscontinue cooking after controls are off.
