Care and CleaningTurn the air conditioner off andremove the plug from wall outlet,or remove fuses, or turn offcircuit breakers at the powerpanel before cleaning.If you live in an apartment, yourbuilding management may wish toprovide these maintenancefunctions that are necessary forcontinued peak operating efficiencyof your air conditioner.Room Cabinet & CaseWash the room cabinet and casefinish with mild soap or detergentand lukewarm water.Condenser CoilsThese coils on the weather side ofthe unit should be checkedperiodically and cleaned if cloggedwith dirt or soot from theatmosphere. If extremely soiled,they may need to be professionallysteam cleaned, a service availablethrough your GE service outlet.Air FilterThe air filter behind the roomcabinet should be washed at leastevery 30 days or as often as it needscleaning.Access to the filter is obtained byremoving the room cabinet.Case -To remove the room cabinet,grasp it at both sides, lift up andpull forward.To remove the air filter, grasp thepull tabs on the front of the filter asshown and pull toward you until thethree tabs at the top and bottom ofthe filter come out of the slots inthe chassis.Wcuum the flter on the dirty sideor wash it with - water. Runwater through tim the cleaner sideof the flter to drive out accumdatidust and lint. Shake to dry.Note: The air conditioner shouldnot be operated without an airfilter. Replacement filters areavailable from your GE Dealer,Factory Service Center orauthorti Customer Care”servicers.To reinstil the air filter aftercleaning, make sure the wordFRONT on the filter is facing you.Insert the three tabs at the top of thefilter into slots at the top of thechassis. Press upward and insert thetabs at the bottom of the filter intoslots at the bottom of the chassis.Then replace the room cabinet.To replace the room cabinet,position slots at bottom of roomcabinet onto tabs at bottom ofchassis. Tilt room cabinet inward,lift it slightly, and position it soclips at top hook onto front lip ofair discharge grille. Then pressroom cabinet down to secure it.5
