21Self-cleaning (pyrolytic system)During self-cleaning, the oven heats up to 485° C.Thus, remainders from roasting, grilling or baking areburnt up and all you have to do is wipe the ash out ofthe interior.A duration from one to three hours is at your disposalfor this mode of operation. The more extreme and theolder soiling is, the longer the cleaning time shouldbe.It suffices for you to clean the interior every two tothree months. If required, cleaning more often is alsopossible.m Risk of fire!Loose food residues, grease and meat juices maycatch fire during pyrolytic cleaning. Remove coarsedirt from the cooking compartment and from theaccessories before every pyrolytic cleaning cycle.m Risk of fire!The appliance will become very hot on the outsideduring the pyrolytic cleaning cycle. Never hangcombustible objects, e.g. tea towels, on the doorhandle. Do not place anything against the front of theoven. Keep children at a safe distance.m Risk of serious damage to health!The appliance will become very hot during thepyrolytic cleaning cycle. The non-stick coating onbaking trays and tins is destroyed and noxious gasesare released. Never let non-stick baking trays and tinsgo through the pyrolytic cleaning cycle. Onlyenamelled accessories may be cleaned at the sametime.Preparing self-cleaningCaution!Fire risk! Loose food remainders, fat and roast juicecan ignite. Wipe out the cooking interior with a moistcloth.▯ Remove coarse soiling and food remainders fromthe oven.▯ Clean the door seals manually, the inside of thedoor and the glass pane because the pyrolysiscleaning process does not clean these parts.▯ Remove all loose interior parts from the cookinginterior. Refer to the section entitled "Cleaningand care" for details of how to remove thegridirons. There must be no objects left in theinterior.▯ Close the oven door.Adjusting self-cleaning1 Set the temperature selector to 485° C.2 Set the mode selector to the Pyrolytic selfcleaning setting.Timer programming is activated. Suggested time2:00 h.3 Depending on soiling, adjust the time by means ofthe @ and A keys (adjustment range 1:00 - 3:00h).4 Press the ~ key. Self-cleaning begins.The current time remaining for self-cleaning can bequeried at any time by pressing the M key and can bemodified with the @ and A keys. Complete input withthe ~ key.Notes‒ For your safety, the oven door is locked attemperatures in excess of 300° C. The lockingand unlocking process takes about 30 seconds.The F flashes during this time. Do not try toopen the oven door during this process.‒ You can program a switch-off time if you wouldlike to run self-cleaning at night, for instance(section entitled "Timer functions - switch-offtime"). The program then starts automatically.Self-cleaning endedThe Ò symbol flashes after the pyrolysis cleaningoperation has ended. The timer switches off heatingautomatically.The flashing stops as soon as any button is pressed orif the temperature selector is set to 0.Note: When the press the ~ button, the suggestedvalue 2:00 h appears again. Press the ~ button againto start the self-cleaning process again.Once the cooking interior has cooled down, wipe theremaining ash out of the interior with a moist cloth.
