12Alarm functionDoor alarmThe door alarm switches on if an appliance door is leftopen for longer than three minutes. Close the doorto switch off the warning signal.Temperature alarmThe temperature alarm switches on if the freezercompartment is too warm and the frozen food is at riskof thawing.The set temperature of the freezer compartmentflashes and “Alarm” is displayed on the display panel.When the alarm button Ú is pressed, the temperaturedisplay for the freezer compartment indicates for fiveseconds the warmest temperature reachedin the freezer compartment.Then this value is deleted. The temperature display forthe freezer compartment indicates the set freezercompartment temperature without flashing.Henceforth the “warmest temperature” will beredefined and saved.The alarm display goes out as soon as the settemperature has been reached again.The alarm may switch on without any riskto the frozen food:▯ when the appliance is switched on,▯ when large quantities of fresh food are placedin the appliance,▯ if the freezer compartment door is open too long.Switching off the alarmPress the alarm button Ú to switch off the warningsignal.Usable capacityInformation on the usable capacity can be foundinside your appliance on the rating plate (see diagramat chapter “Customer service”).Freezer compartmentUse the freezer compartment:▯ To store deep-frozen food.▯ To freeze food.▯ To make ice cubes.NoteEnsure that the freezer compartment door is alwaysclosed properly. If the door is open, the frozen foodwill thaw. The freezer compartment will becomecovered in thick ice.Also: Energy will be lost due to high powerconsumption.Purchasing frozen food▯ Packaging must not be damaged.▯ Use by the “use by” date.▯ Temperature in the supermarket freezer must be-18 °C or lower.▯ If possible, transport deep-frozen food in aninsulated bag and place quickly in the freezercompartment.Max. freezing capacityInformation about the max. freezing capacity within24 hours can be found on the rating plate (seediagram at chapter “Customer service”).
