Q.seriesGantner Instruments Test & Measurement GmbH 996 Functional Procedures → Sensor scaling6.3 Sensor scalingDepending on the type of transducer (Sensor type), there are var-ious possibilities of scaling. With voltage signals and strain gaugebridges (Bridge) you define a conversion of the measured voltage(Volt or mV/V) into a physical unit, e.g. Newton. With straingauges you have a special conversion tool available.Click on the Format/Adjustment column of the variable to callthe settings dialog (Fig. 6-7).Fig. 6-7 Settings dialog for the scaling.6.3.1 Scaling of stress signals and strain-gauge bridges1. In the Unit field type the required physical unit, e.g. N.If the unit has already been entered once, you can also selectit from the pick list.2. Click on Scaling. The scaling dialog is displayed.3. Enter the data of the transducer (sensor) from the calibrationcertificate or from the data sheet (for example refer to Fig. 6-8 on Page 100).Instead of the full scale readings in the positive and negativedirections, you can also enter just one direction. Then use 0for the Input value and Engin. value at Point 1.An alternative is the entry of Factor and Offset if these datahave been specified for your sensor. The figures in the field Engineering depend on the settingsin the Range/Error column.Close the scaling and settings dialogs with OK.
