Use Table 4 to assist in troubleshooting.Table 4 Troubleshooting GuideProblem Cause SolutionThe GX50/60/65 does notpower on.The unit is not getting power. Check power connections, breakers,and main avionics switch.The GX50/60/65 does notcompute a position.Not receiving signals, or incorrectseed position, time, and date.Make sure a correct position andtime/date have been entered. Checkthe GPS antenna connections. Makesure the aircraft is clear of hangers,buildings, trees, etc.The GPS signal levels are verylow.Improper antenna installation or coaxrouting.Check GPS antenna installation,connections, and cable routing. TheGPS antenna must be mounted on thetop of the aircraft.Antenna shaded from satellites. Make sure the aircraft is clear ofhangers, buildings, trees, etc.RF interference at 1575.42 MHz fromVHF comm.Move GPS antenna further from thecomm antenna. Add a 1575.42 MHznotch filter in comm coax. Fix orreplace the comm. Disconnect theELT antenna coax to check..GPS signal levels drop whenavionics are turned on.Noise interference from otheravionics.Turn all avionics off, then turn oneach piece one at a time to isolate thesource of the interference. Routecable and antenna away from sourcesof interference.The GX60/65 does not transmit. The TxKey input is not being pulledlow.Check the TxKey (mic key) input,pulled low for transmit.A weather channel is selected. Select a different frequency, the unitwill not transmit on a weatherchannel.No power to the comm. Make sure power input is connectedto the comm 15-pin connector.The input voltage is too low. Increase input supply voltage to > 9volts DC.The sidetone level is too low ortoo high.Wrong type of headsets, or levelneeds adjustment.See the Sidetone Level Adjustment onpage 28.The intercom doesn’t function. Control input not connected. The intercom select input must bepulled to ground to turn on theintercom function.Active frequency signal present. Change the active frequency. Theactive frequency has priority.No voice activation, or have to talktoo loud.Change the intercom squelchthreshold using the setup functiondescribed in the user’s manual.
