Live traffic data: Sends real-time traffic data to your device,such as traffic incidents and delays, construction zones, androad closings (Traffic, page 15).Live parking information: Sends real-time parking trends toyour device, where available (Parking, page 8).Garmin Live Services: Provides free and paid services to sendlive data to your device, such as red light and speedcameras, or traffic cameras (Garmin Live Services,page 12).Weather information: Sends real-time weather conditions andalerts to your device (Viewing the Weather Forecast,page 18).Dispatch and Track: Allows you to receive dispatches andshare your trip with a dispatcher and selected contacts in realtime (Dispatch and Track, page 16).Smart Notifications: Displays phone notifications andmessages on your device. This feature is not available for alllanguages or message types.Hands-Free calling: Allows you to place and receive phonecalls using your device, and allows you to use the device as ahands-free speaker phone. If the selected language supportsthe voice command feature, you can place and answer callsusing voice commands.Send locations to device: Allows you to send locations fromyour smartphone to your navigation device.Foursquare check in: Allows you to check into Foursquarelocations using your navigation device (Checking in withFoursquare, page 9).Pairing with Your Phone and Connecting toSmartphone LinkYou must pair your dēzl device with your phone and connect toSmartphone Link to use some features, such as live traffic andparking information, hands-free calling, and other connectedfeatures.After the devices are paired, they connect automatically whenthey are turned on and within range.1 From the app store on your phone, install the SmartphoneLink app.2 Place the dēzl device and your phone within 3 m (10 ft.) ofeach other.3 On the dēzl device, select Settings > Wireless Networks,and select the Bluetooth check box.4 Select Search for Devices.5 On your phone, enable Bluetooth wireless technology, andset the phone to be discoverable.See your phone owner's manual for more information.6 On the dēzl device, select OK.The dēzl device begins searching for nearby Bluetoothdevices, and a list of Bluetooth devices appears. It may takeup to a minute for your phone to appear in the list.7 Select your phone from the list, and select OK.8 On your phone, confirm the pairing request.9 On your phone, open the Smartphone Link app.If you are pairing with an Apple®device, a security codeappears on the dēzl screen.10If necessary, enter the security code on your phone within 30seconds.Bluetooth Feature Status IconsStatus icons appear in the Bluetooth settings next to each pairedphone.Select Settings > Wireless Networks.• A gray icon indicates the feature is disabled or disconnectedfor that phone.• A colored icon indicates the feature is connected and activefor that phone.Hands-free callingSmart notificationsSmartphone Link features and servicesGarmin Live ServicesBefore you can use Garmin Live Services, your device must beconnected to Smartphone Link (Pairing with Your Phone andConnecting to Smartphone Link, page 12).Garmin Live Services provides free and subscription-basedplans that send live data to your device, such as trafficconditions, weather, and red light and speed cameras.Some services, such as weather, are available as separate appson your device. Other services, such as traffic, enhance theexisting navigation features on your device. Features thatrequire access to Garmin Live Services display the SmartphoneLink symbol and appear only when the device is connected toSmartphone Link.Subscribing to Garmin Live ServicesSome dēzl Live Services require a paid subscription. In theSmartphone Link app, you can purchase a lifetime subscriptionas an in-app purchase. The subscription is tied to the app storeaccount for your smartphone.1 On your smartphone, open the Smartphone Link app.2 Select My Account.A list of available services and subscription prices appears.3 Select a service.4 Select the price.5 Select Subscribe.6 Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the purchase.Sending a Location from Your Smartphoneto Your DeviceYou can search for a location using the Smartphone Link app onyour phone and send it to your dēzl device.1 On your smartphone, open the Smartphone Link app.2 Select an option:• To find a nearby location, select Find Nearby Places, andenter all or part of an address or the name of a place.• To find a nearby Foursquare point of interest, selectFoursquare, and select a point of interest from the list.• To choose a location on the map, select Pick Location,and touch the location on the map.• To find an address from your contact list, select SearchContacts, and select a contact name.The selected location appears on the map.3 Select Send.The Smartphone Link app sends the location to your dēzl.4 On your dēzl device, select an option:• To start navigating to the location, select Go!.• To view details about the location, or to save the locationto your favorites, select .• To accept the location without starting navigation, selectOK.The location appears in the recently found locations on your dēzldevice.12 Live Services, Traffic, and Smartphone Features |
