Fishfinder 340C Owner’s Manual 21U SING THE FISHFINDER 340C > TESTING THE INSTALLATIONU SING THE FISHFINDER 340CIf you are turning on your Fishfinder 340C for the first time, use thefollowing procedure. If you have already turned on your Fishfinder,and you are just familiarizing yourself with the basic functions,please go to “Learning the Basic Functions” on this page.To start your Fishfinder for the first time:1. Press and hold the Power/Backlight key until theFishfinder beeps. It should turn on. If the Fishfinder fails toturn on, verify that the wiring adapter is properly connectedin the back of the Fishfinder, the Red and Black wires areconnected to the correct polarity, and that the 3-Amp fuse isinstalled and not blown. If the Fishfinder is connected to apower supply that exceeds safe operating levels, a “Batteryvoltage is too high” warning appears and the Fishfinderturns off. If the Fishfinder does not detect a transducer, itautomatically enters Simulator mode (see page 42).2. When the Fishfinder detects a transducer at initial start up,a Select Transducer Type window appears. Press ENTER.3. Use the ROCKER to select your transducer type, and pressENTER.4. Press QUIT to return to the Sonar Page.Learning the Basic FunctionsTo turn the Fishfinder on or off:Press and hold Power/Backlight to turn the Fishfinder onor off.To change the software language on the screen:1. Press and hold ADJ/MENU. The Main Menu appears.2. Use the ROCKER to select the System tab. Then usethe ROCKER again to select the Language field. PressENTER.3. Press up or down on the ROCKER to select a language.Press ENTER. All text on the Fishfinder appears in thechosen language.To change the backlight setting:1. Press and release Power/Backlight to show the backlightslider. The backlight slider disappears when idle for20 seconds.2. Press up or down on the ROCKER to change the user-setbacklight setting. Press and release Power/Backlight totoggle the backlight setting between maximum, user-set,and minimum brightness levels.3. Press ENTER to return to the previous page.
