Because of differences inradar technology, both data types cannot be displayedat the same time. When subscribed to both weatherradar products, you can alternate between the twowith the Overlay option.MeTarsWhen enabled, METARs are available as coloredcircles or diamonds at airports that provide METARreports. Press the MetARs key to cycle through theoptions of circular, diamond, or no METARs. Circlesdepict the current METAR. Diamonds depict thecurrent weather condition. Refer to the Legend fora description of the color code. US and CanadianMETARS use the same color coding and will be shownat the same time with a subscription to both products.SIGMeTs & aIrMeTsWhen enabled, the following SIGMETs andAIRMETs are available for display with repeatedpresses of the Menu Item key :• “SIGMETs” are for Convective SIGMETs• “T AIRMET” is for Surface/Aloft TurbulenceAIRMETs• “Z AIRMET” is for Icing AIRMET• “S AIRMET” is for an IFR condition, such as amountain obstruction• “No Warn. Area” turns off all SIGMETs andAIRMETsThese are collectively known as Warning Boxes andare displayed as color coded outlines of the affectedarea. Refer to the Legend for a description of the colorcoding.echo TopsEcho Tops indicate the location, elevation, anddirection of the highest radar echo. This is typicallyassociated with storms. This may not indicate the topof a storm or clouds, only the highest radar returnecho. Refer to the Legend for a description of the EchoTops coding.IcingIcing data may be displayed with either Winds orTemperatures Aloft. Two icing hazards may be dis-played. Current Icing Severity (CIS) is displayed indifferent shades of blue. Super-cooled Large Droplets(SLD) are shown in magenta. Refer to the Legend fora description of the CIS color coding. A dot patternindicates areas where no icing has been received or isnot available, such as the higher altitudes.Press the Icing key to toggle the display of Icingdata on and off.
