GPS 500 Pilot’s Guide and Reference 7-3SECTION 7NRST PAGESNavigating to a Nearby WaypointThe NRST pages can be used in conjunction with the500 Series direct-to function to quickly set a course to anearby facility, and can provide navigation to the nearestairport in case of an in-flight emergency.Selecting a nearby airport, VOR, NDB,intersection, or user waypoint as a direct-todestination:1) Use the flashing cursor to scroll through a NRSTpage list (Figure 7-5) and highlight the desirednearest waypoint, as outlined in Section 7.1.Figure 7-5 Nearest Airport Page2) Press the Direct-to Key to display the selectDirect-to Waypoint Page.3) Press the ENT Key to accept the selectedwaypoint’s identifier and press the ENT Keya second time with ‘Activate?’ highlighted tobegin navigating to the selected waypoint.7.2 NEAREST AIRPORT PAGEThe Nearest Airport Page displays the identifier, symbol,bearing, and distance to the nine nearest airports (within200 nm of the present position).
