Using Charts20 GPSMAP 400/500 Series Owner’s ManualAnimated Tide and Current IndicatorsYou can view indicators for animated tide station and current direction on theNavigation chart or the Fishing chart. To do so, information for tide stationand current direction must be available in your preloaded map or BlueChart g2Vision region. You must also select the Animated value for the Tides/Currentssetting (page 11).An indicator for a tide station appears on the chart as a vertical bar graph withan arrow. A red arrow pointing downward indicates a falling tide, and a bluearrow pointing upward indicates a rising tide. When you move the cursor overthe tide station indicator, the height of the tide at the station appears above thestation indicator.Current direction indicators appear as arrows on the chart. The directionof each arrow indicates the direction of the current at a specific location onthe chart. The color of the current arrow indicates the range of speed for thecurrent at that location. See page 47 for instructionson setting up Automatic Guidance for your boat.If Automatic Guidance must calculate a route close to potentially dangerouspoints, those points are outlined in red, and a message appears informing youthat there are potentially unsafe areas along the calculated route.The “Where To?” section on page 22 has additional information on how to useAutomatic Guidance.
