GPSMAP 76CSx Owner’s ManualGettInG StartedBatteries, microSD Card, and LanyardThe GPSMAP 76CSx operates on two AA batteries(not included), which are located in the back ofthe unit. You can use Alkaline, NiMH, or Lithiumbatteries. See page 40 for information on setting thebattery type.To install the batteries:1. Remove the battery coverby turning the D-ring 1/4turn counter-clockwise andpulling the cover loose.2. Insert the batteries,observing the properpolarity.3. Reinstall the battery cover.Remove the batteries from yourunit when you do not expect touse the unit for several months.Stored data is not lost whenbatteries are removed.To install the microSD card:1. Remove the battery cover by turning the D-ring1/4 turn counter-clockwise and pulling the coverloose.2. Locate the microSD card in the slot below thebatteries and press down on the top edge of thecard until you feel it click. Then gently allow thecard to release.3. Press down again to installthe card, making certainthe card is fully in placeto prevent damage whenreinstalling the batterycover.To install the lanyard:1. Place the loop of thelanyard throught the slot atthe base of the unit.2.
